Your guests are ruining my/your shots
So which one of your friends or guests is shining on your shine? Since becoming a wedding photographer I've had the opportunity to attend my first wedding as a guest. My little big ego wasn't sure which choice of camera to bring. Little point and shoot for happy snappies. D90 with a long lens to try out some SLR video or my main body to steal some good shots. Afterall it is a family wedding and I'm family, right? Wrong. I remembered a certain wedding i shot and there was something about little point and shooters of that wedding I really hated. ...
Educating the Client
As photographers we all assume they are getting married for the first time. While they may have attended a wedding or two, they do not really know what it feels like in the firing lines of organising one. With all the panic and madness that will go on in the final stages of the preparations, it is important that you sit down with the couple and discuss a few issues that will help you as a photographer to get better shots and things that they need to help you with to document those moments. This must happen atleast 2 week ...
Good Client Service
Listening to some of my favourite photographers, Dane Sanders, Gavin Seim amongst many always on saying there is no substitute to good clientele service has paid up greatly. Under promise, then over deliver. I got the ultimate compliment I was hoping I would get sometime before my career is over. Yet raw me at the entry point of my career, I made someone cry over what someone would regard as just a bunch of photos. Mosadi and Lesiba, also were bowled over by our professionalism, we've had a ton on compliments on our work and they have yet to see a ...
I shot a couple
So I got my new body two days ago, and obviously was a bit excited as i had senior portraits set with this couple. I had rented this camera body before so I had a very good idea that this was going to go well. Now i must say I was impressed with the results that i got straight out of the camera, but more taken by how so much in love this couple is. I didn’t have to direct much and wherever you put them, they just pull an “aaaahhh” out of you. And offcourse I was lucky to ...

Where are the young photographers from our townships?
So where are all the young, township photographers? What are they doing? I know they are there, but how does one find them? What are they offering? I am concerned about the presence of young enthusiast, advanced amateur or professional photographers from elokishini (location) in the photography market. I would in the same breath say that some of our neighbours using services of other photographers... [Read more]
